Add calendar overview in Mac menu bar via Raycast

Learn how to add your Reclaim calendar overview to the Mac menu bar with the Raycast extension.

Updated over 10 months ago

Once you have the Reclaim extension for Raycast installed (learn how to get set up here), you can enable the Calendar Menu Bar to add an overview of your upcoming schedule right in your Mac’s top command bar.

Reclaim 'Calendar Menu Bar' command in Raycast

There are a few things you can do with the Calendar Menu Bar command:

  • See what's coming up next with a live countdown to the event.

  • Expand to view additional upcoming events for the day.

  • Instantly join meetings by hovering over the event.

  • Start and complete Tasks or Habits by hovering over the event.

  • Open instances in Google Calendar by hovering over the event.

  • Open the Reclaim web app.

  • Open the Raycast app.

Activate the Calendar Menu Bar

To add the calendar overview to your menu bar via Raycast:

  1. Open Raycast on your desktop (⌥ Space).

  2. Search for "Reclaim" to pull up commands.

  3. Select the "Calendar Menu Bar" command.

  4. Activate the command by pressing Enter, double-clicking, or right clicking and selecting 'Activate Command' from the pop-up menu.

  5. Your calendar overview will automatically be added to the menu bar.

If you don't see the calendar in your menu bar

If you have activated the Calendar Menu Bar command, but don't see it added to your menu bar, a likely cause is that you have too many extensions to fit it. On newer Mac models, the bezel of the camera additionally clips a portion of the menu bar.

Troubleshooting the Calendar Menu Bar:

  • You can move menu bar items by holding Command () and dragging them to reposition around the camera.

  • If your menu bar has too many items, you can drag items off the menu bar to remove them by holding Command (), and/or quit open apps to clear the icon from the menu bar so you can fit the calendar overview.

Customize number of upcoming events

You can optionally customize the number of upcoming events you want to see previewed.

  1. Navigate to your Raycast Preferences by either:

    1. Clicking the Raycast menu bar icon and selecting Preferences... and opening the 'Extensions' tab.

    2. Right-clicking any Reclaim command in Raycast and selecting Configure Extension.

  2. Find Reclaim in your list of extensions and select it.

  3. In the righthand panel, update the field for 'Number of Upcoming Events' you want to see previewed in the menu bar.

The menu bar calendar refreshes automatically. You can disable this from the Raycast preferences and/or manually refresh by pulling up the command in Raycast and hitting enter.

Deactivate the Calendar Menu Bar

To remove the calendar overview to your menu bar via Raycast:

  1. Navigate to your Raycast Preferences by either:

    1. Clicking the Raycast menu bar icon and selecting Preferences... and opening the 'Extensions' tab (or via shortcut ⌘ , with Raycast open).

    2. Right-clicking any Reclaim command in Raycast and selecting Configure Extension.

  2. Find Reclaim in your list of extensions and select the 'Calendar Menu Bar' command.

  3. In the righthand panel, click the Deactivate button.
