Overview: Google Calendar Add-on for Reclaim

Installing and using Reclaim's Google Calendar Add-on to manage Reclaim events directly from Google Calendar's UI.

Updated over 2 months ago

Reclaim's Google Calendar Add-on gives you a native interface in Google Calendar to manage your Reclaim events directly from Google Calendar's UI.

Reclaim's Google Calendar Add-on gives you access to your Priorities in Reclaim, as well as your Tasks, Habits, Smart Meetings, and Scheduling Links. Additionally, it lets you send and customize Scheduling Links directly from Gmail.

Installing the add-on

To install the add-on in your Google Calendar interface and connect it to your Reclaim account, follow these steps:

Go to the add-on's listing in the Google Add-on Marketplace. When prompted, press the Install button:

Follow the steps to authenticate your Google account with the add-on (make sure to use the same email you use for your Reclaim account). Once the add-on is installed, it should appear in your sidebar in Google Calendar:

Click the icon and follow the steps to authorize your Reclaim account to use the add-on. You may be prompted to login to your Reclaim account if you aren't currently logged-in.

Installing the add-on for your Google Workspace

If you are a Google Workspace admin, you can optionally install the add-on for everyone in your Workspace, or for specific user groups within your Workspace. If you're a Google Workspace admin, you will see an Admin install option appear when you go to the add-on listing in the Google Add-on Marketplace.

This is a great way to give everyone access to the add-on automatically, regardless of whether they've signed up for Reclaim yet.

Using the add-on

The add-on will show you several tabs that you can use to navigate your Reclaim Priorities, Tasks, Habits, Smart Meetings, and Scheduling Links.

Additionally, clicking on any Reclaim-managed event (e.g., a Task event, a Habit event, or a synced calendar event) will show you more details about it in the add-on:

In general, the add-on gives you most or all of the controls available to you in Reclaim's Planner, so you can do things like start Tasks and Habits, reschedule 1:1s, or add time to Tasks directly from Google Calendar.

Below is a short overview of the kinds of things you can do with the add-on:

View your Priorities

From within the Priorities tab, you can see all of your Priorities that you've set in Reclaim. This is very similar to the Priorities section of the Reclaim app.

You can directly copy Scheduling Links from here, start Tasks or Habits, as well as click any item in the list to access more actions and details:

Manage your Tasks

In the Tasks tab of the add-on, you can see and search all your existing Reclaim Tasks as well as create new ones.

If you click on any Task in the list, you can see more details and actions for it:

Manage your Habits

In the Habits tab of the add-on, you can see and search your enabled Habits and take action on them.

Click into any Habit to see more details and actions for it:

Manage your Smart Meetings

From the Smart Meetings tab of the add-on, you can see and search all your meetings created in Reclaim.

Click into any Smart Meeting in the list to get more details and actions for it:

Manage and customize Scheduling Links

From the Scheduling Links tab of the add-on, you can see, copy, and personalize any Scheduling Link in your Reclaim account:

From here, you can copy the URL of the Scheduling Link as well as personalize it or share times from it by using the Personalize & share button.

Managing Reclaim events

As mentioned previously, you can click on any event in your Google Calendar interface that is managed by Reclaim to get more details and actions for it.

In particular, you can use the add-on to see the source details of synced calendar events created using Calendar Sync. That means that you can see the full details of the original event that was copied over without having to show the duplicates in your calendar:

To learn more about this particular workflow and managing duplicate events created by Calendar Sync in the add-on, check out this doc.
