Reclaim can show a filtered list of your tasks inside the blocks an agent creates, so when your Focus Time starts you already know what to work on. You choose which tasks by building a search — by source, keyword, or due date — and the agent keeps it as a rolling backlog.
Note: Tasks is still in beta and this area is changing quickly.
What assigning tasks does
It changes what you see, not what Reclaim schedules. The agent still books time the way it always does — assigning tasks fills that time with a list of what's relevant, sorted by priority and due date that you'll see in the Tasks Tab.
Reclaim doesn't create a calendar event per task. BUT if that's what you want, ask the chat To block time for your task.
How to assign tasks to a Focus Time agent
You can assign tasks to Focus either through the agent directly or by clicking on any Focus event on the Planner.
From either starting point you're taken to a pop up with a task search. From there you can narrow which tasks get pulled in:
Source — pull from Reclaim or any of the task integrations that you have connected
Keyword — match text in the task name
Due date
Reclaim saves the filters as a search, so the list stays current as tasks are added and completed. If your tasks come from an outside integration, like Asana, the search can also filter on Project and Label.
How to give each Habit its own task list
Habits take task assignments too, and each one keeps its own separate search. This is the useful part if your tasks are named consistently because you can build custom searches per habit. A Habit for video work pulls only video tasks, while a Habit for reporting pulls only reporting tasks. Two Habits, two searches, no overlap.
Tasks with Defend Meeting Overload are in danger of being missed
Both Focus Time and Defend Meeting Overload live under Focus in the Agent library, and you can assign tasks to either. But Defend Meeting Overload only puts blocks on your calendar once you cross your meeting threshold — so if you assign tasks to it and have a light week, no blocks appear and. neither does your task list.
For a backlog you want to see every week, assign tasks to a Focus Time agent, which books time toward a goal rather than waiting on a threshold.
