How Reclaim automatically categorizes your events

Reclaim automatically detects and categorizes events on your calendar, and uses them to provide stats and color-coding.

Updated over a week ago

Reclaim automatically categorizes your events by type in order to perform several important jobs:

  1. To automatically sync your status in Slack to events on your calendar

  2. To automatically color-code your calendar events

  3. To provide stats on where your time is going each week

These event categories are detected automatically on your calendar by Reclaim based on different criteria (detailed below), and can be manually changed on a per-event basis.

Event categories

Team Meeting

Meetings with 3 or more people with email addresses that are within the same domain as the email you use to login to Reclaim.

Solo Work

Non-personal events where you are the sole attendee. Note: in Calendar Stats as well as in Slack Status Sync, you will see "Deep Solo Work" and "Shallow Solo Work" categories. Deep Solo Work are Solo Work events that are greater than 2 hours in length, and Shallow Solo Work are Solo Work events that are less than 2 hours in length.

External Meeting

Meetings with at least one other person with an email that is in a different domain than the one used for the email you use to login to Reclaim.

One-on-One

Meetings with only one other attendee that are in the same domain as the email you use to login to Reclaim.

Personal

Events that are being synced from a calendar marked as personal using Calendar Sync, or any events that Reclaim recognizes as personal via keywords in the title and/or description of the event.

Travel & Logistics

Travel Time and Decompression Time created by Reclaim, or any events that Reclaim recognizes as travel via keywords in the title and/or description of the event.

How to change event categories

If you ever want to change a category for an event, you can do so from Reclaim's Planner. If you click on an event, you'll see a Category option appear on the sidebar. You can click on the dropdown below to modify the category, which will also change its color to align with your color-coding settings.
